Ibiza Island City Guide

Ibiza Island Guide

The Achrome Tee is out, summer has reached its peak

and what better time to fly to one of our favorite

islands and bring you its purest form.

Ibiza is an island that has so many sides to it - it is up to you how you wish to experience it. Individuals who have not
explored this magical land tend to only associate Ibiza with wild partying. Well, that is an option of course, but if
relaxation and connecting with nature is what you are after, you will find opportunities for that too. As the choices are
diverse and endless, selecting my favorite in each category was not an easy task, but as keeping it mysterious is a verbal
cue I have received, please allow me to share with you a glimpse of this special place. It was adoration at first sight and
the affection I have for the island has not faded since - Ibiza has my heart, it is not just a summer romance.

A citizen of the world, Kata (or as many know her as Kate from her modeling years) has lived in multiple cities across the
globe. The opportunity to spend a few months in New York that she was given at age 15 changed her perception of
everything around her and this international metropolis installed in her an insatiable appetite for travel and for different
cultures. Ten years later, she decided to transition away from the industry and implement the knowledge of gastronomy
and hospitality she gained through her travels into working for a private concierge. After trying the best spots in The City
as one of the many perks, she gravitated back to fashion, through which she later relocated to London. It was during this
period that a special occasion arose - she was asked to spend a few weeks in Ibiza due to a seasonal collaboration.
With Kata’s interests including design, she has since joined a firm that allows her to work closely with interior designers
and architects, appreciating commercial spaces even more from this aspect. Ibiza satisfies her in many regards.

Six Senses - Favorite Hotel To Relax

One remote location with everything at hand. Whatever it may be, you will find it at Six Senses. “No” is not an often used
word in the vocabulary of the team at this resort. With multiple restaurants, access to the sea, a spa, longevity bar, infinity
pool, movie room and even a retail space where there is a section of Annie’s Ibiza outfits to rent (gentlemen, fear not, the
shop has great offerings for you as well), you will find all possibilities for activities and of amenities that help make you enjoy
a day in or away from the heat, whether your preference is relaxing or feeling productive. I recently had the opportunity to
spend a few days here as a special birthday treat from a dear friend, during which time we only left the hotel late in the
evenings. The daytime was spent rejuvenating and snacking on healthy dishes, including our “self made” watermelon salad.
An ideal summer vacation, in my humble opinion.

Nudo - Favorite Lunch Spot

The perfect place for a delicious Mediterranean lunch where the ever-evolving menu is created by no other than an ex-Noma
chef trio. The key words to describe Nudo are as follows: fresh, natural, organic, island-sourced. This tranquil beachfront spot
in Es Figueral has everything you may crave in the heat, with ingredients including but not limited to kefir, kimchi and anise.
Boiled red shrimps, clams and koji cured tuna belly are a must with seasonal greens, accompanied by a glass (or perhaps
bottle) of Pet-nat. Following your lunch, you have the opportunity to enjoy a well-deserved siesta at the sandy beach a few
steps away from the restaurant. Alternatively, if an all-day experience with excellent food is what you are looking for, Jondal
is the answer.

Atlantis - Favorite Activity

Where the land meets the sea. It is only accessible to those who are willing to take the many steep steps down to this
mesmerizing spot, not afraid of potentially getting lost. With otherworldly rock formations, surrounded by clear water, Atlantis
is the perfect hideaway whether you are in the mood for a swim and grounding sunbathing, or cliff jumping is something you
are into.

Casa Lhasa - Favorite Wine Bar

The first adjective that comes to mind when describing Casa Lhasa is: unpretentious. It is in an idyllic garden setting that you
get to taste organic wine and if you arrive early, you might catch the passionate team peeling snap peas on a bench, in
preparation for dinner. Cassidy and Ben are very personable, making you feel at home. They are known for their conscious
approach and the very tasty seasonal dishes offered pair beautifully with their extensive wine selection. Personal statement:
The chef being Hungarian does not make it a biased opinion. And as a side, but important note: the purring of the cats adds
to the sensory symphony, leading you into the night.

El Silencio - Favorite Sunset Spot

An ideal spot, not just for special sunset sightings, but for people-watching too. One can find many options for
entertainment at this beach club. Some nights, you may catch a peaceful sundown with the only melody created by locals
clapping as a way of showing their gratitude to the sun. On other evenings, it is the guest DJs who are providing the Balearic
sounds. El Silencio is an excellent place to arrive before and stay until after dusk.

Sa Capella - Favorite Dinner Place

One word description: impeccable. It has a 10/10 rating for me in every category: the food, ambience, service. The dimly
lit sensual atmosphere is enhanced by candlelight with wax melting down on the sides of grand cast iron candle holders. As
for the value, it is subjective. I will just say that after seeing the price of the sea bass on the bill, my friend made a comment
“I could have caught it myself” and our friendly waiter joined in on the laughter. In regards to the overall dining
experience? Imagine yourself being so immersed in a very interesting, deep conversation with your dinner partner that you
fail to notice that all other guests have left the room and the restaurant has subtly started closing - for me, this is hospitality
at its finest: being made to feel comfortable, even after hours.

El Bigotes - Favorite Secret Spot

Close your eyes (well, maybe wait until you have finished reading) and envision an authentic seaside spot where the locals
have no intent of impressing anyone by anything other than their one dish that consists of seafood caught by the fishing
boat in the bay, cooked into a stew with rice over an open fire, in a massive cauldron. It is only open for lunch with two
seating times and you have to reserve in advance. Due to their aim to avoid food waste, walk-ins are not welcome. Trust
me, I have tried and sadly did not succeed. Showing genuine interest did however prove successful and I managed to get
their WhatsApp number, which certainly helped as I have been back three times since. One important detail to remember:
they accept cash only. The story I have told is true: This modest, yet magical place stands, hidden in Cala Mastella. I hope
what you have just visualized, soon becomes your reality.

DC10 - Favorite Club

Why would anyone party on a Monday night? I thought to myself when an acquaintance told me about DC10. Oh and
what is with this judgemental tone? I asked myself. Jealousy? Perhaps. As one of those individuals, who likes to have an
opinion on everything, I felt the urge to try it. One week later I found myself entering this well-regarded discoteca next to the
airport, dancing the night away to Nina Kraviz. Since then, which was the summer of 2022, when I am on the island with
friends, it is part of our “regular programming”, so at a Circoloco event is where you will find me. DC10 is the place for
electronic music lovers, where in the illumination of red neon lights, you are likely to run into everyone you know on the
island. If not here, then house parties are where you want to be for a local experience. Hospitable Ibizans may also guide
you in the direction of village parties that make you feel part of the community - high vibrations only.
