Barcelona City Guide
Barcelona City Guide
Daniela Fernandez, a Colombian photographer
and chef based in Barcelona, offers a unique view
of her city, blending photography and culinary
arts in her visual journey.
Well, well, well! Let me kick things off by introducing myself and the city that stole my heart. Seven years ago,
I jetted off to Barcelona with plans to return to the Big Apple. But you know what they say about plans - they have a
funny way of changing! After a mere three weeks of immersing myself in the Spanish way of life, it hit me like a ton of
paella: maybe, just maybe, this vibrant city was destined to be my long-term digs. I realized I could sprinkle a little bit of
Daniela into the mix of this sun-kissed, beachside metropolis. And oh boy, did I fall hard for the food, the laid-back
summer vibes, and everything in between!
Fast forward to today: I’m living my dream life as a photographer and PR extraordinaire at the coolest bar on the planet.
Managing social media for multiple bars and collaborating on creative projects, I’ve crafted the life of my dreams.
So, what’s the deal with this guide? It’s my blend of industry expertise and love for Barcelona, helping you savor the best
bits of the city while becoming the best version of yourself. Trust me, curating my top 10 picks wasn’t easy!

Casa Bonay - Favorite Hotel To Stay
Located in the vibrant center of Barcelona, Casa Bonay isn’t just a hotel; it’s a canvas upon which
Barcelona’s spirit is painted. From the moment I step into its embrace, I’m surrounded by the scents,
tastes, and rhythms that make this city so extraordinary. One of the most enchanting aspects of Casa
Bonay is its gastronomic offering. From a bar that resonates with authenticity to a restaurant that
captures the essence of the city’s culinary evolution, every meal is a journey through the senses.
Origo - Favorite Bakery
Alright, bread enthusiasts, listen up! When it comes to the art of bread-making, I’m what you might call a
connoisseur—or perhaps just a tad spoiled by the goodness of top-notch sourdough. Now, don’t get me
wrong, Barcelona boasts some fantastic traditional bakeries, but there’s one spot that I often find myself
trying to avoid. Why, you ask? Well, because once I set foot near Origo Bakery, resistance is futile.
Sips - Favorite Cocktail Bar
When it comes to discussing a place with genuine expertise and firsthand experience, let me tell you
about Sips. As a cocktail enthusiast, I’ve explored numerous locations in Barcelona, but Sips stands out
in every aspect. From their classic cocktails to unique concoctions that will keep you coming back for
more, they’ve mastered it all. And it’s not just about the drinks – the music sets the perfect vibe, and the
staff makes you feel right at home with their friendly service. Recently, they unveiled the city’s first tasting
menu of cocktails, a true testament to their dedication to the craft. I highly recommend booking a table
at Esencia for dinner and then heading over to Sips to continue your night.
Edition Hotel - Favorite Place To Chill
Located in the heart of Barcelona, this line of hotels is renowned for its amazing rooftops and incredible
bars. And they’re not wrong. This place has become one of the best destinations to bring my friends and
have a fantastic time at their bar. From incredible cocktails to small Spanish bites, my favorite spot is
always the pool area. There’s nothing like playing pool with your friends on a late Friday night, with
great drinks and good music. So, this is my recommendation for a chill Friday night with friends or your
partner.

Berbena - Favorite Dinner Spot
For dinner and perhaps lunch, there’s no better place in Barcelona than Berbena. From exquisite natural
wines and perfectly paired dishes to a diverse selection of plates, Berbena has it all. It’s one of my
favorite spots to dine, especially sitting at the counter with the chef. With nearly 5 years of history,
Berbena takes pride in its freshly baked bread and sourcing the finest local products. The owner’s
passion for incredible taste extends to the music and ambiance of the space. Every dish here is a
culinary adventure, so I recommend making a reservation and bringing along friends or your partner.
Soho House - Favorite Sunset Spot
Ah, let me spill the beans on a hidden gem that’s an absolute must for enjoying those dreamy summer
sunsets. Now, fair warning, this spot might not be for everyone, but hey, I’m letting you in on the secret
because, well, sharing is caring. Nestled in one of my all-time favorite beaches in Barcelona (you know,
the kind that isn’t overrun by tourists), lies a little slice of paradise. And if you happen to miss out on
snagging a spot at Soho House, fear not—there are some incredible local restaurants nearby that’ll
satisfy your cravings just as well.
Rattmataz - Favorite Club
When it comes to nightlife recommendations, I may not be the expert, but I can confidently vouch for this
venue. Known for hosting some of the best concerts and artists from around the world, it’s a hotspot for
music enthusiasts. Whether you’re indulging in an amazing Masago sushi roll or stepping into one of
their multiple spaces to enjoy some techno beats, this place has something for everyone. If techno isn’t
your vibe, simply move to the next space and groove to reggaeton or even belt out to “Dancing
Queen.” It’s truly a one-stop destination for an unforgettable night out.
Parking Pizza - Favorite Lunch Spot
Parking Pizza offers some of the most delicious pizza in Barcelona. Don’t miss out on trying their
stracciatella and truffle with egg varieties. The ambiance is always lively, especially along Paseo Sant
Joan, where you can enjoy your pizza while taking in the bustling atmosphere. And the best part? You’re
conveniently located near one of the town’s top ice cream spots, DelaCrem. With multiple locations
across Barcelona, Parking Pizza is a must-visit for pizza lovers.

Oller Del Mas - Favorite Getaway
A hidden gem that has captured my heart and become my cherished weekend getaway from bustling
Barcelona. Allow me to paint a picture of Oller Del Mas, a family winery that has seamlessly blended
tradition with modern comforts to create an unforgettable experience. Nestled in the embrace of an old
family house, Oller Del Mas has evolved into a sanctuary where time slows down, and the world of
wine beckons you. Imagine staying in their cozy cabins, a stone’s throw away from their lush vineyards.
A mere hour away from the vibrant heart of Barcelona, Oller Del Mas invites you to step into a world of
beauty, taste, and tranquility. It’s a symphony of the senses, a haven where every detail, from the winery
to the restaurant, comes together to create an unparalleled experience.
